Milpitas Laser Dentistry

Lasers can effectively and gently solve a wide range of dental issues. Lasers are changing dental procedures that at one time were very complicated, into easy, quick and painless treatments. You'll love Milpitas laser dentistry by Dr. Yu.

Frenctomy

A frenectomy is used to modify that small flap of tissue either under the tongue, or under the upper lip. When the tissue under the upper lip extends down too low, it can cause damage to the gums or gaps in the teeth. When the tissue under the tongue extends too close to the tip of the tongue it can interfere with a patient's ability to speak clearly, what we used to call being tongue-tied. A lingual frenectomy may be necessary to free up the tongue for full mobility.

A laser is used to precisely remove the excess tissue without any bleeding or scarring. Procedures are relatively pain free and heal rapidly. Past techniques would have made this a more traumatic procedure, but with a laser, all that is needed is some topical gel. There is no post operative pain or need of any medication.

Gum Disease and Canker Sores

When a deep dental cleaning is needed, it's usually because of tissue inflammation caused by trapped bacterial material. These pockets of inflammation can be difficult to see and clean. Lasers can be used in cleaning pockets up to 5 or 6 mm deep. The laser probe can seek out the inflamed tissue and effectively clean the inside wall of the gums, so it's free of inflamed tissue. This will end the problem of bleeding gums. Gum disease has been related to heart disease so eliminating any infectious inflammation by means of a laser can be a big step in helping to safeguard your health.

We also use lasers in the treatment of interior and exterior canker sores. It immediately eliminates the pain and induces healing and our Milpitas laser dentistry patients love the results.

Crowns and Cavities

When it's necessary to place a crown, the surrounding gum tissue may make it difficult to see the tooth and create the proper fit. Using a laser, we can clear away the tissue and this will help Dr. Yu make a more accurate impression of the tooth for the perfect fitting crown.

When a cavity is below the gum line it is difficult to see. A laser can literally clear off the gum around that area, without any bleeding, so that the cavity can be cared for properly. The gum tissue will renew itself very quickly and leave behind a healthy tooth.

Laser dentistry is revolutionizing our Milpitas laser dentistry practice; making dental visits easier, more efficient and pain-free.
