These more complex procedures require a CT scan which allows Dr. Yu to see your dental structure in 3D; the bone, nerves, sinuses. This allows Dr. Yu to know the condition of your underlying dental structure and if any bone grafting would be necessary to restore the strength of the jaw. This allows for a "Virtual" Implantation in the jaw, deciding on factors such as type and size of implant before we ever begin working on the patient.

This program also allows us to virtually plan the ideal position for the implant; the angulations, the depth, and the position. We use this information to create a surgical guide stereolithical model; turning the virtual file into a physical model. This surgical guide has the correct implant angle and depth built into it and is placed over the patient's teeth and/or bone so that during implantation the optimum position can be precisely replicated.

Having the ability to create the treatment procedure virtually beforehand means a quicker and more comfortable procedure for you; less actual time in the dentist chair. For less complicated implant procedures, using the Simplant program is not required. Instead, a surgical guide made from the pre-treatment model is created to help in the implantation process.
